a new venture

I'm departing this blog and moving into new, more time efficient, territory.

Find me at:

Saturday, 19 February 2011

things I've been up to lately

  • Work work work work work
  • Making sure everyone at work realizes how crazy I am. They all do, it only took me a month to let everyone know who they were dealing with. Thus squashing my chances of being the alluring beau t that all the boys want to date.
  • Catz Ball last weekend. Aka the end of Phase 1 of my 2011 transformation process. I actually transformed my life SO much in January. I, however, am not sure if Phase 2 will be as successful.
  • I as a I'm forever disgusting laugh to myself I decided to try on this pair of jeans I bought wayyyy back in 2008 that have never fit me and low and behold they fit! I'm not sure if this is because the fabric somehow loosened in my drawer or if my irregular work induced eating hours have helped me shed some pounds, but heeeyyyyyyyy.
  • I am beyond poor. And my student loans kick in ON MY BIRTHDAY. YEY. That's not really something I've been up to, but, it's an approaching reality.
Oxford last Sunday. Aka the first day of Phase 2 transform my life. I'm still working out my goals for this phase. But the end date is the tentative date of my 24th Birthday party. FUN!

"This is what you shall do; Love the earth and sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to every one that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown or to any man or number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons and with the young and with the mothers of families, read these leaves in the open air every season of every year of your life, re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul, and your very flesh shall be a great poem and have the richest fluency not only in its words but in the silent lines of its lips and face and between the lashes of your eyes and in every motion and joint of your body."
Walt Whitman

So far:
  • Woke Up
  • Watched Maury with Ruth (we had a Crazay slumbah party last night, complete with Beas cupcakes and KFC. Classy)
  • Ate Carmelli's bagels with coffee at Costa
  • Read the Sunday Time
  • Obsessively checked how mah markets are doing

  • Stroll to my favorite church in the grey, windy weather, whilst listening to the new music podcasts I downloaded
  • Grocery Shopping
  • Read in bed
  • Watch Tv on my laptop
  • Skype sessions
  • Make something delicious for dinner and have leftovers for lunch
  • More TV and more reading

AKA an action packed lazy Sunday. Six days to go until phase 1 of transform my life in 2011 is complete. Then I need to decide my phase 2 goals. Oh life.

Another Productive Saturday...

Yet another example of an amazing youtube comment.

This was listed under the best Broadway cover ever:

"Oh. My. God. JUST-

Oh my god...

This is unbelievably amazing and arguably the best rendition of this song EVER.

I simply cannot deal with this.

Here's a youtube comment from the second best song EVER. Amazing

"ok, alot of my blk "brothers and sisters" are gonna hate me for this but i have to say that whitneys version didnt have the heartbreak that dollys had, i mean, ths woman who has loved this man since she was a teen knows that she could never marry him because shes the madam of a bordello and he wants to make a change through politics. whitneys version was just over the top and loud; dollys was subtly expressive and poignant."

Daily Mail story of the mornin'

Church girl cries RAPE and exposes the "kind of society we live in." I LOATHE stories like this. There's nothing in this story that shows what kind of society we live in. A girl couldn't handle the religion she was probably forced into and her growing sexuality, so she had sex (at youth group- near other kids- okay weird), got pregnant and out of shame said she was raped. I HATE when stories say that stuff like this is exemplitive of our society. As a (former) student of history, art history and english literature, shit like this has ALWAYS happened. I really don't think human nature has changed, media has just put it all out there.

Rant done. Love you forever Daily Mail xooxoxox.

You go boy!

It's not summer yet, but, maybe I can convince my mind it is. Or at least Spring. Anyways, I woke up (at 555 ughhhh annoying) with this poem in my head and it's fabulous.

And the stone word fell
On my still-living breast.
Never mind, I was ready.
I will manage somehow.

Today I have so much to do:
I must kill memory once and for all,
I must turn my soul to stone,
I must learn to live again—

Unless . . . Summer's ardent rustling
Is like a festival outside my window.
For a long time I've foreseen this
Brilliant day, deserted house.

The Sentence by Anna Akhmatova
No need to hurry. No need to sparkle. No need to be anybody but oneself.
